    Hi I've got a dell inspiron 1720 T7700 with 4gb ram, 8600M, 2x160gb...
I just want to now if the new OCZ Solid-State Disk 2,5" 30 GB (Black, OCZSSD2-2C30G, Core Series V2) is suitable to my laptop and if it worth it.
I will change my settings only if it worth it to this ssd for installing de OS, programs and games. And the second device for data.
Will improve this configuration the battery life? And the performance?
There is another better option for the SSD?
    Thanks for your help.
Here the specs of the OCZ V2 30gb

    Color
    Black

    Format
    2,5 inchis

    Capacity
    30 GB

    Interface (interna)
    Serial ATA/300,

    Conection

    SATA (15 contacts)

    Transfers rate
up to 170 MB/s (reading Flash), up to 98 MB/s (writing Flash)

    Time acces
    200 µs (reading)

    TMEF
    1500000 horas

    Resistance to hits

    max. 1500 G in 2ms

    Weight
    77 g

    Dimentions (AnxAlxPr)
    70 mm x 9.5 mm x 100 mm

    Price 159€.

I read that my Inspiron 1720 uses SATA I, that's true? If it is may I look for SATA I, or SATA II will fit and I will get better performance ?

I suspect it will not be noticeably faster. A SSD is a lot more rugged than a regular hard drive, so it would probably survive a drop just fine. I do not know if the 1720 uses SATA I, but a SATA II drive would work just fine even if it was just SATA I.

dont get any of the OCZ core series as they have jmicron controllers which are rubbish for random writes. Unless you plan to use steadystate of course ;)

Wich is the one I should get. Notice that sata 1 only is capable to manage 150mb/s transfers rate. Or should I wait until next year for better products and prices.
Is not necessary to be the best ssd, only I need the best working in Sata I.
The storage capacity I need is no more than 60gb and 30 at least.
    Thanks.

All ssd working in higher transfer rate of 150mb/s will be a waste of money. Don't?

SATAI isn't a problem for the transferrates.

I think that is not a problem beacuse ssd didn't evolve enought to make sataI obsolete, or I'm wrong.
So wich one I should choose?

Ok now I read that is MLC (Cheapper memmory) and the bests are SLC (more expensive).
Which SSD SLC drive should I look for? I don't need more than 60gb and less than 30gb.
Remember my dell uses SATAI, so the max transferrate is 150mb/s.
Thanks, for open my eyes with that.

Another question if I go for a robson 4gb it will do something with and ssd or not? User pinning is better than readyboost? Can work user pinning and readyboost together(using a sdhc for readyboost)?

with 4gb of ram, I don't think you need readyboost. I'd go for the G.Skill drive if you want an affordable MLC.
