So I would like to add another 512MB RAM to my 512MB RAM. I have a question about the memory chips on RAM.
My current modul has 4 chips on the on side and 4 on the other. The new Kingston, which I want to buy has 8 on chips on the one side only. Do the work together ot not?

As long as it's the same type of RAM (PC2700 DDR SO-DIMM) it will work fine. Different manufacturers make it in different configurations, but it should work fine.

Right. As long as the RAM specifications are the same (i.e DDR2, PC4200, etc), it shouldn't be a problem.

The thing was just that I once had a problem with my old Pentium III PC. I had one 256MB module with 16 chips and one 128MB module with 8 chips. I bought one more 128MB module with only 4 chips and the PC didn't work.
I have one more question about those RAM-s. What does the Micron Tech's "Component Config: 32 Meg x 16" and Kingston's "sixteen
    32M x 8-bit (8M x 8-bit x 4 Bank) DDR333 SDRAM sealed in uBGA packages" mean?

    I hope I'm not mistaking:
    "sixteen" - 16 chips
32M - each chip has 32M memory locations (actually is 32M=2^25=33554432)
8-bit=each memory location is 8 bit large (one byte)
8M x 8-bit x 4 Bank - the contents of every chip is divided in 4 banks, each 8M large

    so we have 16*32M x 8-bit = 512M x 8-bit = 512MB

It's a little bit complicated. So I'll just ask, that will these two RAM modules work together?

Should work fine, I had 512mb from kingston, and then i bought another 512, different chip but from kingston also, it's been over 6 months, havn't had any problem. I'd suggest you buy from a place where they let you exchange or you can take ur laptop and try it there.. that's what i did. :)

is it possible to mix RAM,
for example sticking 1x256MB and 1x512MB together in a notebook?
or do they have to be the same sizes?

If you have DDR ram and add a 512MB when there is another 256 MB then you will only have 512MB running at DDR and the other 256MB at normal speeds. It won't really make a difference to you.

In that instance....more ram is better than faster ram! :)

    Hope this helped.
