It isn't a very important issue but I have noticed that when I boot from battery the Q9650 (stock 9 x 333 - 3ghz) will run at 6 x 333 - 2ghz while when I boot up with AC then run on battery the CPU will downclock fsb to 6 x 175 - 1ghz.

Needless to say it makes quite a difference to battery. Is there a way to make the Q9650 run at 6x 175 from boot up on battery. I discovered that if I plug the power in quickly and then pull it out again the CPU will downclock properly to 1ghz but otherwise not.

Neither the bios nor RMclock give option to manually half the fsb to 175. It seems like it is only hard-wired to do so I think it is called SLFM mode or something?

Try running something CPU intensive lik wprime and measuring speed. It might be downclocking itself to save power, and then upclocking to normal speed under load. That's what most notebook CPU's do, though this is a desktop QC you're using...

yeah the powermizer works fine it will downclock to 6x from 9x when idling as it should however under battery the fsb should also halve from 333 to 175 which it doesn't when I boot from battery
