Hi,
I'm planing on buying a 22 inch LCD monitor, but I've noticed that all of the resolutions seem to capped at 1680x1050. Is that the highest it goes? I ask because the resolution on my laptop is 1920, so ideally I would like a 22 inch moinitor with a high resolution.
Thank you

Well they are rare, one 22" monitor with WUXGA is the Lenovo ThinkVision L220x.
But if you want WUXGA, then better search for a other screen size. -

There's a bit of a dichotomy when it comes to desktop monitors vs. laptop screens. While you can find 15.4" (and certainly 17") laptop screens with 1920x1200, mainstream desktop monitors don't reach that resolution until about 24 inches.
Edit: Doing a quick ncix and newegg search turns up only the Lenovo previously mentioned, and the Viewsonic VX2233wm (although the latter is 1920x1080, 16:9). -
Ah, I see. Thank you for the info. Any reason in particular why desktop LCDs have lower resolution in comparison to laptops? Just curious. -

I really don't know. I guess it's just to reduce costs, and assumes that people who are going to use a desktop will want a larger monitor for hi-rez stuff. Laptops are more designed for on the go, so they need to try and squeeze as much as they can into a relatively small machine.

It was the case that lcd manufacturing cost was proportional to the number of transistors ie pixels: A WUXGA screen costs 30% more than a WSXGA, but people are reluctant to pay more for the resolution, they pay for screen size in inches, so the higher resolutions get put in the larger screens.
