    Hi guys,

I just opened my Samsung series 7 Chronos and wanted to repaste GPU/CPU.

    Here are 2 Pictures:

Question 1: There was Termal Paste on the GDDR5-RAM. It was the first time I see that RAM is pasted.
--> Should I repaste the RAM-Blocks or not? (Is this VERY Important?)

Question 2: As you can see on the 2nd pic there is a Black film on the CPU and in the Background a clear one on the GPU.
--> Can I remove it? Or should I leave it there?

Would be very happy, If I could get quick help.

    THX!!

For the GPU, repaste the RAM also, GDDR5 doesn't tend to heat much, but might as well repaste if there was paste on them.

Leave the black film there, what matters is the die, so you don't need to remove it or anything.

I believe the black film is there to prevent the heatsink and/or stray paste from touching the surface-mount stuff on the CPU package.

Makes sense, but paste these days is non conductive and the heatsink shouldn't touch anything that is mounted on the CPU PCB. Still, if it's there, better leave it there.
