Hi guys,
say I was wondering about this Laptop (have searched but nothing really poped out)
Amazon.com: Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7272 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Fusion X2 Finish in Red Horizon): Computers & Accessories
I bought it couple weeks ago and I really like overall but am a little bit offset about slowdowns during gaming.
While playing Civilization 5 for example the fan changes speeds noticable and while it is running on full speed the game becomes noticable slower.
I was wondering if it might has somehting to do with the power supply. The stock powersupply comes as 180 Watts.
Basically, is 180 Watts enough for an i7 2.0ghz, Geforce GTX 560M, 17.3 inch laptop ?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
180 watt should be enough, I think the ASUS G74 series only come with a 150 watt..

Sounds like CPU throttling.

Yeah, cpu throttling would be my guess too.
You can try a notebook cooler, or even take apart the system and repaste the cpu/gpu heatsinks properly with a quality thermal paste.
First, maybe download HWMonitor and let it run in the background while you're playing your games and see if the temps get into the trouble/danger zone first. (It sounds like heat is the culprit, but before you start attacking from that vector, may as well check first).
See:

Good luck. -
Yep, check your temps, it does sound like thermal throttling.

Thanks for the info
Gone start monitoring GPU and CPU heat in correspondance with fan speed and see if there is a pattern with the performance loss
maybe there is just still more bloatware i need to get rid off hehe -
FYI if anybody cares since this was a while ago
The problem basically disappears with updating software that was not available then
Toshiba made some general updates for the bios system but I strongly recommend updating you graphic card drivers manual (downloading directly from nvidia) since I think toshiba did not update the graphic driver through their support tools
