    i found this on sale at pc microworks for their falcon laptop./

    my question is, would the laptop better to have this in it or a extreme dual x9100 3.06 ghz in it????

    this unit will have a dual ati 3870//512mem

    It depends on what game you are playing. If you were to play GTA4 the quad core will be better. If its a single or dual cpu game then the x9100 will be better.

    If you know how to overclock the CPU on whatever machine, I'd go for the slower quad.

    You can up the FSB using SetFSB, etc.

    Definitely go for the mobile quad core. Software is going more towards the quad core cpu's. Plus having 2 more cores never hurts. (well except the pocket) ;)

    That's only for computers that support changing the FSB speed - many (quite possibly most) laptops do not. Don't assume that a laptop supports that; make sure it does.

    I'd actually recommend the highest T-series as a more economic alternative in almost all cases. For most games I'd say the X9100 would be better - there's only a few that support four or more cores (GTA4, GalCiv2), and even fewer that could possibly max out an X9100.

    Theres also a Q9200 2.33GHz.

    Call PCMW up and request it.

    BTW, the KillerNotebooks laptops auto-overclock their Q9200s to 2.93GHz.
