    Hi,
    i have an ASUS G1s with T7500

i was wondering if there was much of an improvement with the upgrade to Quad core, i was looking at the Q9500 or Q9300 etc

the reason i am shopping around is because i have 4GB of RAM and can only really use it up with non-intensive programs. i want to be able to encode video whilst playing Far Cry 2, with the internet open and music pumping etc (i know its a laptop but its my desktop replacement atm)

im not 100% sure that my motherboard is compatible, is there a way to check?

hope someone can shed some light on this issue, thanks in advance!

i believe you cannot upgrade to any Montevina platform CPUs (dual core and quad) in that notebook.

the G1s is using the previous Santa Rosa platform.

You cannot upgrade a notebook with a desktop CPU.

And you cannot upgrade to the mobile quads like the Q9100/Q9200 etc either....

    :p Shot down.

Regardless of this being possible....Encoding video using Handbrake takes around ~55% of my Q9450 (overclocked to 3.6GHz). I don't think a quad in the ~2.5GHz range would like encoding and playing Far Cry 2.

You really need a desktop rig to do what you're looking for :(
