I know quad-core procs have been out for a while for desktops. My questions are,Does anyone know when they might be avaliable for notebooks? And what companies might have them? And what models/chipsets that could be upgraded for them?

They are very expensive for desktops right now.

I bet it will be some time before we see them in notebooks.

Not for a while in notebooks. Dual-core processors at 65nm (and later this year 45nm from Intel) with the increasing power of new architectures and technologies render the massive power requirements of quad-cores silly in notebooks when dual-core can do nearly as much in less threaded environments (read: not much software to take advantage of quad-cores, they take too much power for notebooks, current notebook processors are essentially as powerful as their desktop counterparts anyway).

Bill Gate once said, 640K RAM is way enough for a PC. Now what? He blow it.

Who knows what tomorrow will use? People just want to buy more cores and think about usage later on.

The Intel processor codenamed Gilo (should be out Q4 2007) is a mobile multi-core processor that could be a quad core, but there is still no information that proves that it actually is.

    Just speculation.
