NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M or NVIDIA 9800 GT.
Which one is better and faster when it comes to gaming?

9800 gt...quadro is designed more for the graphics designer/3D renderer.

Hardware wise, Quadro and Geforce cards are very similar. It's is the drivers and video BIOS that is different. Some people will flash BIOS's and install drivers for the Geforce version of their Quadro card (or vice versa).

The Quadro FX 3600M was supposed to be based on the 8800M GTS, someone said on the 8800M GTX, but while both GeForce cards have a 35 W power consumption, the Quadro reaches 70 W. So there should definitely be some hardware difference.

The Quadro should outperform the GeForce with applications which use Open GL, since its driver are supposed to be optimized for it. But I would love to see an actual benchmark of the two boards, maybe using the SPECviewperf suite which is designed for professional applications.

If the main interest is gaming, I think the Quadro is needlessly expensive.

^^^ Very well said. Surprised nobody mentioned Open GL sooner. Simply put, very similar card architecture, different drivers succeed in different environments. The FX will succeed when it comes to CAD programs and such, whereas the GT is oriented to the gamer :)

Well in reality there the same chips just with diffrent bios on them but the quadro is designed to reduce framerate for detail while the geforce does the opposite. Id go with the 9800m gt for gaming

Their is a large difference indeed. My laptop has the ability to have a quadro or an geforce. My friend has a 7900GTX, and I have a Quadro FX2500M. Some say that they are based off the same core, but than why is the core on my quadro much larger, and why is its layout different. Another thing is, power usage. Quadro's use more power cause they are designed to continually run in 16x FSAA or its highest compatible FSAA (Full screen AntiAliasing). This means that the graphics card is always working pretty hard. This means that it will use more power than say a geforce. I know for a fact that the difference is more than a Bios flash, cause the cards are physically different. Anyways, the Quadro's will dominate in CAD and open Gl based software. If you are a gamer, get a geforce, cause you will not need more than 4XFSAA, which a geforce can do. Quadro's do 16xFSAA, and that will inhibit gaming greatly unless you force the antialiasing level down. Having a high FSAA really makes a difference if you are an architect or an engineer, cause you want a very clear image and lines which are continually regenerated, cause it makes drawing so much easier.
