I'm thinking about buying a notebook soon and screen quality in terms of contrast and viewing angles are important to me. Is Sony, especially their X-Brite Hi Color screens, still the gold standard in notebook screen quality? I know Lenovo sells IPS screens that offer some of the best viewing angles around but I prefer a glossy screen.

Sony's screens are still works of art.

Actually Sony, does not even manufature the screens for their notebooks. They use Hyundai and Samsung screens.

I have a Samsung Syncmaster screen in my Voodoo laptop and it has one of the best viewing angles and crisp display I have ever seen on a laptop.
