What's better?
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz or 1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz?
-
2gb>>>>1gb
-
obviously the 2gb is better performance wise as it gives you more ram iff your looking for difference in frequency i.e 553 and 667 mhz theres not much difference
-
That's what I thought.
But why (according to dell Canada's website) does it cost 130$ to upgrade from 1GB at 533MHz to 1GB at 667MHz and only 90$ to go from 1GB at 533MHz to 2GB at 533MHz.
So why is it more expensive to get 667MHz instead of a 2GB upgrade if the 2GB is better? Are they just trying to fool people like me? -
They're trying to scam people. Its actually much better to buy and add your own RAM to your systems. The price difference is usually huge.
Like the avatar, btw, Magus and Chrono Trigger ROCK!!! -
Alright thanks for the information.
Alright time for a new question! This time about video cards:
256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory
and the
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1600 PCI-Express 16X with 128MB Video Memory (Up to 512MB HyperMemory)
So which one is better (I'm assuming the first one is)? And what exactly is HyperMemory (does it take it from the RAM)?
Thanks for any help.
PS: Chrono Trigger's awesome. -
The X1600 is waaay better than the X1400 (like twice as much power).
-
x1600 is about 2 times stronger than the x1400.
-
-
Okay so the X1600 has 128MB of independant memory plus it can get an extra 512MB from the RAM? -
-
It doesn't suck as much as a "plain" 128MB card. It provides extra memory with a lot lower performance than onboard memory, but it's still extra memory, which is better than nothing.
-
-
Alright makes sense.
So for the 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory, how much of the 256MB is shared and how much of it is dedicated? -
128MB is dedicated, 128MB shared. Fact is that any game that would take more than 128MB of graphics memory probably wouldn't be playable on the X1400 anyway.
Question on RAM.
