Hello everyone,
I want to replace my "4k" QFHD Samsung LTN156FL02-101 panel, because of its rubbish rendition of yellow colors and the incorrect rendition of small fonts and lines, with a AUO B156ZAN02.3 panel, which has the same dimensions and the same bracket of the Samsung.
Both the panels, according to Panelook, adopt a 40 pin eDP 4 lane signal cable; both panels are LED backlit, so I expect that the connector will be exactly the same.
Is there the possibility that a 40 pin eDP 4 lane connector would be different than another 40 pin EDP 4 lane?
Thank you so much in advance.

thats a hard question, you can possible burn out your gpu also (which i've done in the past) what laptop do you have
-
Eurocom Tornado F5 (MSi 16L13 Barebone) equipped with LTN156FL02-101 at the moment
-
I compared datasheets of my current panel (Samsung FL156FL02-101) and one of the best 4k monitor on the market (AUO B156ZAN02.3).
So, this panel has:
same bracket of Samsung's
same eDP 4 lanes 40 pin interface, with same pin pitch (0.5mm)
same backlighting
I double checked every single pin connection and all pins are the same (same function in the same pin placement), except the first pin, that on Samsung says "APS on off or no connection (optional)", and on AUO says "Frame Lock NVSR" which I believe is something related to Nvidia Gsync; I think it won't be a problem.
Samsung eDP is the 104062-4011 Connector, AUO's is the I-PEX20455-040E-12R, both are Wire to Board Female with Pitch : 0.5 mm and side mounting.
So... I thing they are fully compatible, do you agree? -
@Skylake_ I ordered the panel after you talked about it in the Tornado forums. Unfortunately it is coming from China. So I won't have for a little while. If you are willing to wait I will let you know for sure if it will work or not. This will give me 4 different screens for the Tornado, I have a problem..

@cavell219 Thank you cavell219! Meanwhile, I'm defining the shipment mode to receive the screen through DHL, as Standard Shipping from China to Italy is so long and dangerous.
I'm almost sure that the screen will work (unless come broken from China), but I'll be glad if you can confirm it for me in advancecavell219 likes this. -

Received mine yesterday and installed it. It works. But there is a small issue. It doesn't work on the newest Nvidia drivers. I had to go back to 378.49 to get it to work. Colors are very nice, brightness does not work but this was expected.
Just like my last 4k panel in the laptop it does not allow lowering the resolution to 1080P without creating a custom resolution in Nvidia control panel which is a little annoying.
Panel has a 64Hz refresh rate.
I did not spend too much time actually using it last night due to the time it took to find a working driver. -
Hi, thanks for your feedback!
I don't understand why the brightness is not working?
Another minor question: Is It glossy or Matte?
Thank you,
Matteo -
The brightness does not work because the monitor is not supported in BIOS. This was also an issue on the AUO 120hz 1080P.
Mine is glossy. -
So the chinese guy was right, this LCD is glossy and not matte lol
Maybe the brightness would work with the unlocked BIOS?
Thank you! -
It's the Video Bios, sorry mis-spoke on that. But the 120Hz panel was actually fixed by an update by Nvidia. Brightness control may work in a newer driver, but as of right now all of the newer drivers turn off the backlight for the monitor so until a newer driver supports this panel more correctly it will have some issues. Tonight I might go through and try some more drivers. Depends how much time I have.

@Skylake_
Tried a bunch of different drivers including the J95 modded drivers with no luck other than the version I said earlier. Good news is custom resolutions look good and stay, my old panel they were kinda blurry. I am running mine at 1440P and I do not see any blur. Response time for gaming at least to my eyes looks great. Good find on the panel man! Thanks for the tip! -
@Skylake_
So I realized I had the 2 monitors confused in my mind when I answered the glossy question. My screen is Matte, not glossy. Sorry about that. When you asked the question I had not taken off the film yet so it was still "shiny" but as I was sitting here using it I remember I answered your question with glossy... When it most definitely is not. lol. Sorry about that. -
Great news man! Champagne! In fact, the datasheet of this model said "matte finish", so I was confused. No more, at the moment!
So this monitor is fully compatible with Eurocom F5, except for brightness control, has a nice color gamut, is true 4K AND is matte! Very nice! -
But the screen is major upgrade from the other 4k panel. I have no light bleed or dead/hot pixels either.
The only difference I noticed is the connector is maybe half an inch farther away so I had to pull some cable slack from inside the laptop. This could only be my issue though as I installed the 40 pin connector aftermarket myself.
There is a review of the screen here:

The owner of the panel on Eurocom said that is still stuck in Nvidia 388 drivers to get backlight working.
Curiously, Eurocom just released the new Q6 with exactly this model of 4K display, that is obviously working, but probably deals with Intel GPU rather than Nvidia.
Question about 40 pin eDP 4 lane cables and 4K monitor
