I was surfing around newegg.com, and I noticed that they now have 800MHz FSB DDR2 RAM for sale. I had originally thought that part of the Centrino Duo (Santa Rosa) platform upgrade was that the memory & FSB were going to be upgraded. But so far all I've seen is that the FSB has been upgraded, most systems come with a processor using the 800MHz FSB, and the DDR2 RAM is clocked at 667MHz. Is that just because the 800MHz DDR2 RAM wasn't available until recently? Or is 800MHz DDR2 RAM outside the i965 mobile chipset specification?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Also, if anyone knows of DDR2-667 MHz RAM with a CAS latency less then 5 I'd really like to know about it. CAS 5 latency is the only thing I see all over the internet.

The Santa Rosa platform does not support DDR2-800MHz RAM...it can only handle 667MHz.

Is there any way to change it? I mean, why would all the memory manufacturers be coming out with DDR2 800MHz RAM if there's no reason to purchase it? Is there another refresh of Centrino coming out soon that will use the faster memory & they are just trying to pre-flood the market?

I thought I heard some AMD's might support? If anyone knows let me know.

THere might be some small desktops that support DDR2-800 SO-DIMMS. And some DTR's with Desktop CPU's.
