I just got a couple of Thinkpad T60 laptops from ebay.

The seller included official Lenovo AC adapters with the following specs:
    input: 100-240v, 2.4A
    output: 20V, 4.5A

But I think the seller may not have included the correct power cords for the AC adapters. One of the power cords fits into the AC adapter but the connector is much longer than it needs to be. It also says "7A 125V" on it. I assume it's OK for the power cord to have a higher amp rating than the AC adapter?

The other power cord fits and isn't too long, but it says "3A 125V". Is 3A too little, when the AC adapter is outputing 4.5A?

The 7A 125V cord is normal - that's what my AC adaptor has. The connector is a bit longer than it needs to be.

I have seen that on most of the laptops that I've worked with.

The second cable (3A 125V) is still fine since the maximum input current is 2.4A. The output current is carried by the thinner cable that should be permanently attached to the other side of the power brick.
