I'm searching for a nice notebook tv tuner (USB would be fine) that has over-the-air digital signal. I read that the U.S. is transitioning to purely digital tv broadcasting in February of 2009 so i want to make sure i don't make a mistake and get a tuner that only has analog. This and this both look about right but i just want to make sure that it won't become obsolete in 2009. If they're both good, additional recommendations as to which one i should get would be appreciated.

With the ATSC standard you will be fine as that is the new standard. It looks like neither supports the old standard NTSC which is still good for a couple of years. Also I see nothing mentioned about hooking up to cable or a VCR DVD. This pinnacle http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/PCTV+Tuners/PCTV+Analog_Digital+PVR/PCTV+HD+Stick.htm has all I mentioned but costs a little more. Same with this Hauppauge http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_hvr950.html.
