Hey, i have never owned a laptop, but am about to purchase one shortly and was wondering if laptop optical drives are easily replaced and upgraded, the laptop i am going to get is the ASUS F8VA-B1, and i was wondering if it is possible to get a blu-ray drive in the near future.
    Thanks

It is easy to upgrade the optical drive. Usually you only have to remove one screw on the laptop to remove the optical drive. Usually asus, clevo, compal, msi, and dell laptops only require one screw to be removed to get to the optical drive.
You can install a blu-ray drive in it.
The hardest part is finding a e-retailer which sells notebook blu-ray drives.

I bought the blu-ray drives in my laptop from meritline, but they have not stocked them in quite some time.

    Unscrew a few screws
    Remove the old drive
    Insert the new drive
    Re-tighten the screws
    Install the drivers
    Sit back and enjoy :)

Its not as simple with the M1530 slot drives though I think.
