    Hi there, i have a Intel Centrino Core 2 duo T5450 @ 1.66ghz. in a DV9000 laptop. It's the dv9731ca.

And someone wants to sell me a Intel Core 2 duo CPU T7500 @ 2.2ghz.

My first question is.... Will it fit? and then how hard is it to actually install it? will it affect my warranty? Should I get a technician to do it?

Yes it will fit. I've never installed a processor so i don't know how hard it is. Chances are it will void your warranty.

Yes, they both use Socket P so the T7500 will fit in the slot. However, be aware that replacing your CPU voids your laptop's warranty. As long as you work carefully and not fiddle with any of the internal components, you can do it yourself. Look for guides on the internet for replacing CPUs.

I don't think you can unless you put in the old processor before sending it to HP ;)

You won't see much of a framerate increase with a processor upgrade, since games rely much heavier on the GPU.

Yeah, T7500 isn't gonna give you more than a few frames being that it's an 8400GS, right?

Exactly it.s a 8400Gs. Are those video cards any good?

By the way now playing call of duty my cpu temp goes up to 75C and i'm getting a little worried, I head max temp was around 100C but then again is that any true?

Have you tried undervolting your processor? It will help reduce the thermal temperature which your cpu is running at.
Also upgrading your cpu may actually allow the cpu to run cooler. The T7500 is based on a 45nm architecture while your current one is based on a 65nm architecture. The newer T7500 should have the same tdp as your current cpu, so I do not think you will have overheating problems their.
The 8400Gs is not a very powerful graphics card, but you should be able to play the game on low to medium settings.

It's not gonna be worth the trouble for gaming purposes. Your temperatures are probably fine. GPU's should be ok even at 90-100°C.
