So I'm in the process of upgrading my dell g3 3590's screen to a 144hz ips panel. I have the panel on order and am near 99% sure that it should be compatible because another SKU of this laptop comes with either that screen (b156han08.0) or another compatible one. My question is whether or not the pinout of the 40 pin eDP output on one laptop would be more or less the same as a 40pin output on another one? I'm curious because I can only find datasheets for the pinout on the eDP connector of the display, but not the pinout of the output connection on the motherboard and I happen to have a compatible eDP cable from a lenovo laptop.

Edit: I have done two tests with the lenovo edp cable. I tested with a multimeter to make sure that the ground pins on the side of the display matched the eDP 4 lane pinout and they do.

I have also plugged the cable into my laptop without plugging it into any display, powered it on, and then after powering it off I replaced my old screen and it still worked, so clearly none of the pins on the motherboard side linked together or shorted anything out. (does that make sense? I was testing to see if any pins on my motherboard side connector were actually powered, where if they connected to linked grounds they would have fried the controller I assume, but they didn't).
