As the title states, I'm switching my Samsung 840 Pro 256GB from my old laptop to my new one. I got HID to install a M.2 SanDisk 256GB drive with the OS on it. I just want to use the Samsung for extra games and other programs so that I don't fill up my fill up my first one. Should I format and then install, or just install and then format it from there? I had Windows 7 on my last laptop, and 10 on this one so I didn't want to mess anything up. Any thoughts?

You should be fine to install it and then reformat.

If you see the new machine attempting to boot Win7, turn it off and make sure the boot order in the BIOS has the m2 drive first.

Once booted into Win1o, open disk management and format the drive.
