I am buying a lenovo t61 and need to pick a wireless card:

    I can either stick with 11a/b/g Wi-Fi wireless LAN Mini-PCIe US/EMEA/LA/ANZ . For $5 I can upgrade to Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG or $25 for Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.

I know absolutely nothing about wireless cards or networks. I use my wirless network at home and sometimes when I travel. What should I get?

The non-Intel branded card is manufactured by Atheros, and is supposed to get better range at the expense of burning a bit more juice (thus increasing temps a bit, too). At least that's what I've read here.

The Intel 3945 does not support the wireless -n standard, whereas the 4965 does. I'm not sure about any other differences, perhaps someone else could chime in.

I picked the Atheros myself due to its supposed range capabilities.
