ok guys, im planning to get a laptop and i came to the processor part.

    AMD Turion(TM) 64 Mobile MK-36 (2.0 GHz/512KB)

    and

    AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-50(1.6GHz/512KB)

which one is faster? i would think the moble mk-36 is faster because it has 2.0ghz and it costs less? but im not sure. which one is faster? please help. thanks

    Hello and welcome.

Please note...now days, speed ONLY isnt matter...so Dual Core is faster then MK-36.

The tl50 will especially perform better than the mk36 when you're multi-tasking.

TL-50 will perform faster in multi-tasking, but MK-36 is faster for single threaded applications. I'd rather have the TL-50 because even just running the operating systems is multi-tasking, but still the MK-36 is technically faster.

I agree with the others. The Turion MK-36 may be faster in single threaded applications, but more and more programs are incorporating multithreaded programing, and they will take advantage of the second core in the Turion X2 TL-50.
