Alright this question maybe kind of odd but here goes nothing.![]()
So this i7-2630QM says that the memory type is DDR3-1066/1333
(@ the intel's website Intel® Core? i7-2630QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.00 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SR02Y)
So if I have a laptop that has 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz (2X 4GB) does that mean that the RAM will only perform at max of 1333MHz??
How does that work?
(I never actually thought about this until just now)
Thanks,
PS I kinda assumed this question is appropriate under this section of the forums... if not then I must apologize.![]()

if you put the 1600mhz ram in the machine with a max of 1333mhz yes the ram will only run at 1333mhz
-
Well... just as shakennstirred said it will run on 1333MHz, but you can try to lower timings to boost performance back a little (usually memory can work with better timings on lower speed).

Actually, a moot point.
