    Hi,

I tried to search the forum, but I found only one thread in the Mac section with only one reply in it. I want to hear other people's opinions.

I was wondering, for 3 GB (1+2) memory, does it affect the performance or anything if the 2 GB chip is installed in slot 1 or 2? I know it will work in either slot, but I just want to know if there is any differences or benefits for the larger chip to install in the particular slot?

    Thanks.

Download SiSoft (free) try both configs benchmark. Does it matter? My recollection of back when it did matter it would not function properly if not in the correct slots. Also if Mac does not have easy to find documentation on this suspect a non issue.

It is better to put the higher capacity memory card in memory slot 1 or memory slot a.
This is because the higher capacity memory card usually has a higher memory density, equating to a higher internal memory bandwidth.

    OR

You could break the 2 GB stick in half, making it 1 GB, and then not even have to worry about it!!! :p :p :p :D

Really, I've found it doesn't matter.

    Thanks for the info guys.

powerpack, yeah with some older systems, I know it does make a difference. lol at the Mac comment. :p Actually, I wasn't searching only the Mac section, I searched the entire forum and only that thread matched.

K-TRON, this is what I thought too, cause that's what I learnt back then. But I think it doesn't really matter with the new systems. Anyway, I put the 2 GB chip in slot 1, since slot 2 is on top of slot 1, so in the future if I want to make it 4 GB, I will just need to change the 1 GB in slot 2.

Crimsonman, I just broke the chip in half, now you owe me a chip. :D
