    1) ive had my new lappy for around a month now
does the fan having dust on it worsen its performance or should i be more concerned about the vents?

    2) are there any disadvantages to consistently putting your laptop to sleep mode for 8+ hours?

    1) do you hae any overheating problems?
In the long run the dust will block your fan exhust and make your CPU run hotter

    2) that's fine, but not green/eco though. If you don't need your laptop for that long, it would be better to turn it off (it's apt to you though).

    hey there

    1. Cooling performance is affected by dust collecting in the vents and reducing airflow, but you shouldn't worry about it until around 6-12 months of use, unless you live in a very dusty place.

    2. Not that I'm aware of

    hope this helps

I use hibernation for overnight. Computers have been known to wake up when sleeping (time to check for an update, etc.,) and, if closed, can overheat or, if not on mains power, can drain the battery.

I use sleep mode for sometimes hours on end, it works good for me, because its like instant use and your ready to go

Hibernation takes longer but its safer since the files are stored on the disc, meaning the system can be unplugged and you can remove the battery, and still retail your files.
