How much space is usable by windows for the 80gb and 160gb versions?
Also has anyone seen a decrease in volume because of bad sectors yet?
How long can I expect to use a drive for?

The Intel SSDs should be very good. Although MLC technology is fairly new, SSDs have been around for a long time (10+ years in many mission critical settings), and I'm sure the drive will be usable for 10+ years w/o fail. 80GB (decimal) = 74.5 GiB (binary, what you see on your computer), so just double that value for the 160GB drive.

jup, a bit less than 150GB is what i have on my 160gb intel.
it's an awesome drive. can't wait to get some gen2 models for the rest of my systems -
Anyways, the useable lifespan should be no worse than a regular hard drive. As its one of the well-built SSDs, it probably will last longer(Note: probably).
To maintain the lifespan:
-Make sure your firmware is the latest the first day you get it if you do
-Don't be going crazy with "slowing" down and "degradation" articles and rumors. You might end up with worse problems when you do a full drive clean(writing 1s or 0s) and lower your lifespan. Just stick with regular format.
-Enable all the performance features like AHCI(which NCQ follows then) then leave it alone. It's a pricey drive and pricey products should just work. Don't want to pay for a more expensive drive to fiddle around to "optimize" performance, cause frankly, that's a waste of time and money. -
