What's the purpose of having two partitions? Is there any recommended type of files that we should saved into these two drives respectively?
As I could not move my User's files to D drive in Vista...![]()
Meanwhile, is Nero 7 Essentials needed in notebook? As it takes up quite a big space.
Thanks guys.

C: is the main OS drive, where the OS and programs are installed. The D: drive is more of a storage drive. There are a few benefits with having two partitions, in your case C: and D:, one of which is that if either one of the HD partition fails or gets a virus, the other will be unaffected. Another would be if you want to do a full recovery(a reformat basically), you can just wipe the C: where the OS is but leave the D: where you can move all your important documents, etc.
Nero 7 is a CD/DVD/Image program, if you often make DVDs/CDs, it's a vital program. -
I would also recommend adding more partitions for games, movies, and backup ect instead of D for all others files except OS
And as cori mentioned Nero 7 is very essential especially if you dont have a big hard drive -
Thanks... ^ ^
but how to add more partitions?
so there's no way to move the users' files to D drive in Vista? -
Take a look at this blog/site.

When I follow the instructions according to the article "How to repartition HDD in Vista", I found out a partition without any drive letter(6.84GB, Healthy, Primary Partition) in the Disk Management window. What's that? I can't see it in Mt Computer too.
And when i right-click it, only the "Delete Volume" can be clicked. It follow by a window saying that "The selected partition was not created by Windows and might contain data recognized by other OS." What's going on huh? -
Thats probably a hidden recovery partition. Most of the big boys(dell/HP/toshiba/gateway ect) use those instead of including a recovery CD. You can burn it to a dvd or CDs. Either check in the start menu or in the program menu for a preinstalled program that should do it for you.
If you deleted somehow and you dont have any recovery cds which might have been included with the driver cds you can buy them from the manufacture of the laptop. -
But the package did include recovery CD...
-
They probably included both or they compliment eachother or just duplicates of eachother.
I still think its a Hidden Recovery Partition .Other Asus Models have then and the W7s shouldnt be any different. -
Could you check the picture that i've attached?
