I was considering buying a new laptop in the near future, and I plan to use it for gaming. Its got to be a 15 inch laptop for portability, and with that I have a couple of options for the best video card. I can get the 9800m GT, the 9700m GT, and the 9600m GT /w GDDR3. I was wondering how each of them compare to each other, and how well they will run games. Does anyone have any benchmarks or good comparative info? I'm aware that the performance should be 9800>9700>9600, but i just would like to know how big of a difference there is. Thanks.

You have them in the correct order for gpu performance, but 3d mark scores I do not have. usually notebook check has pretty decent stats for graphics cards, but be a little weary, cause they tend to make mistakes. Your best bet is to look in the gaming section, since a lot of graphics talk occurs there. From my knowledge, most of the 9 series performance is pretty similar to the 8 series cards, so the 9800mGT is smilar to the 8800mGTS, the 9700mGT is similar to the 8700mgt and the 9600 is similar to the 8600gt.
If you are an avid gamer, the 9600 will not suffice, so you should look at the 9700mGT or the 9800mGT cards, as they are more powerful.

in the 8 series cards, the jump from the 8600 to the 8700 was pretty large, but then the jump from the 8700 to the 8800 was rather small, so it is probably the same with teh 9 series.
Hopefully someone can be of more help
