I've been researching notebooks for a while now, and I found one that suited my needs and budget. I was taking a final product tour before I ordered it online this morning when I read this:
Mobile AMD Turion 64* X2 dual-core processor** can imporove multi-tasking and battery life
* This system requires a seperately purchased 64-bit operating system and a 64-bit software products to take advantage of the 64-bit processsing capabilities of the AMD Turion 64 processor. Given the wide range of software applications available, performace of a system including a 64-bit operating system will vary. **Dual Core is a new technology designed to improveperformance of certain software prodcuts. Check with the software provider to determine suitability. Not all customeres or software applications will necessarily benefit from use of this technology.
Do I need to purchase something seperate?
Thanks

No, you don't need to purchase anything ...

To my knowledge, the only x64-bit Windows OS is Windows Professional 64-bit Edition.
Your card will be able to run Windows XP Home/Media/Professional x32 edition fine, but your card will ALSO be able to run the x64-bit edition of Professional if you buy that. -
Well yeah you have to buy your operating system separately. I recommend going to Vista 64bit next year, you'll get a nice boost on that dual core Turion.

That's just their disclaimer saying that they're not giving you a 64-bit OS with the system. It's also their "nice" way of saying that they are not participating in the free Vista upgrade program.
Quick Help Please
