my current processor is the
"Mobile AMD Turion 64 ML-36, 2000 MHz" I think it is single core
How much better is the base processor of the $1499 processor referring to the alienware m15x
If it is like a 1.6-2.0 core duo is that better than a single fore 2ghz?
-

Yes much better.
-
so the base processor of the $1499 m15x will be a lot better than mine?
-
also, my current laptop has two 512 mb DDR2-667 (333 MHz)
is that slow?
the alienware comes with twice that speed is that a lot better? -

Trav - I'm pretty sure the base m15x is clearly an upgrade in every respect versus your existing laptop...
I have a Turion ML-44 2.44Ghz processor in my 9700...I don't find it that bad as far as single-core processors go...I don't think my P4 (2.8) desktop performs as well as it does....but the 2.16 T7400 I have in my 9750 blows the socks off the AMD quite handily...I honestly think getting the 2.0Ghz processor is good bang for your buck, the 1.66 is defnitely faster -
oops...hit send before I finished typing....
the 1.66 Dual core is definitely faster than your AMD, but nothing radical. -
omg... I think my one year old laptop has a three year old processor...

Wow! What a thread. To OP what do you mean the RAM is twice as fast? The 667Mhz you have is almost the max for most notebooks, and there is no RAM for any notebook that will run twice as fast. Your CPU? Yea the base 1.6Ghz will give you an overall better (faster) experience. But if it is a single threaded application the CPU you have could be a little faster. And to Alienware/user completely "fanboy" comments. To OP do not buy the Alienawre you mentioned it is so far behind the times! But a good bit of advice do not buy Alienware they are very very overpriced! Unless you really like the way they look. For the money they charge you can get better for less.

A single-core old generation 2.0 GHz Turion would probably be slower than a 3.0 desktop P4.
-
Not looking up benchmarks at this time of night. Oh and I just read a couple days ago the Turion SC beat the P D. So you are wrong on your facts! Will come at you tomorrow!

My response was at XX:36 PM, edited at XX:38, and yours was XX:46. What happened?

I'm just saying, you went down a little hard on what you perceived to be fanboyism. All Alienware/User said was that a Core 2 Duo and that P4 was better than the Turion - absolutely true statements, not fanboyism. If you refer above, I already said that this thread was stupidly blatant. -
I concede I misread and if had comprehended at first I would not of said what I did. Because I admit I was wrong except the fact that what was said "never any good" is I don't know? Maybe like saying the PIII was never good! I mean right now PIII is junk but you mix opinion and twist knowledge and warp history? You get disagreements. I still stand buy the FB thing. We are side pointing each other but I have softened a little.
