For my next laptop, I have the choice of getting the intel T9400 or the P9500.
They both seem to have same specs except the T9400 is 35W and the P9500 is 25W.. Does this mean that the P9500 will just eat less battery?? If it is the only difference, does it make a considerable difference in battery life so that the extra 95$ will be worth it?? Thx

The P9500 will use less power. It may or may not be significant depending on how you use the machine on battery, as the 10W savings only applies to full load. At idle and light loads, the power consumption will be very similar.

The difference in battery life is insignificant - you'll get a few minutes more at most. I actually don't know what the advantage of a P9500 over a T9400 is but they're practically the same thing so $95 may be a little too much for the same processor.

The P9500 should amass any revisions since the T9400 was released (small % performance boost). The power draw difference will only be noticeable under load and would net you significant battery life gains (compared to the T9400), but your battery will still drain much faster because it's under load.

to me 10watts means nothing as i am not carrying the load, the battery is. and if its powerful by design it will last more. but heat is a major issue with T series

    Thx for the fast reponds!
I won't be using the laptop on my lap so I don't mind too much about heat.
I think I'll go with the T series since battery life isn't that much affected.

The P9500 does have a lower power usage, but it will run as hot as the T9400 series chips. You cant just state one will run cooler than the other, because the cooling is determined by your system Bios. No matter which cpu you get, the fan will kick in at the same temperature.
However a lower power consumptive chip will take a slightly longer amount of time to reach that threshold, and it will cool down slightly faster.
