I could have put this in either alienware or the ocz forums, but I just wanted to know people who have the qx9300 and if they really like it or not. I just picked up a good deal on one and I am trying to debate on keeping it or selling it off and putting back in my P9500. Any suggestions/tips/opinions would be great. Thanks!!

Sell that dirty P9500 and pop that QX9300 in. You don't know what your missing. the dual 3870's in XFire could really used a qx9300.
-
Yeah sell that P9500, how much?
-
I was thinking around 210-220 shipped for it. So definitely stick with the QX9300 then??
-
stick with the quad
-
Mmm... I'm tempted to buy that.
-
Thanks guys, I just need to find a way to adjust the FSB on this chip since its a QX chip.
-
-
ok, and let me know about the chip. So any other opinions??
-
I love quads, but it really depends upon the application/game you're running, if that really needs four cores working a 2.53GHz.
For e.g. if a game is using 70% both cores on the P9500, it'll use 70% of two cores on the QX9300, or 35% on each core if the game wants to use all the 4 cores (which it usually does not).
Though, a Quad is definitely useful if running encoding apps and games like GTA4. And you can't expect much of a battery life out of a gaming notebook anywayz. -
Given the same clock speed, a quad will be a far better choice.
-
Thats true, I am going to test how much battery life I get with the quad, with the p9500 it was near 2 hours.

Anyone else want to chime in, just trying to decide weather or not its worth the 500 dollar difference between the 2 chips I have. Also has the fan noise bothered anyone?? Also its a final stepping ES QX9300 that I have btw..
-
Won't make any difference in most games. Maybe GTA4 but that is about it. I'd sell it and save the money for a future laptop.
-
I see, am I allowed to sell that chip??
-
Yeah you can sell it if you want to.
-
Ok thanks, I started a thread, yeah I just didn't see a huge performance boost I guess. Was nice to run it at 3.06ghz though, just the fan was kinda noisy.
-
I think I'll be selling a qx3000 and buying a cheapper cpu...
