I was wandering if a 100GB 5400 SATA HD can be replaced with a 7200 ATA HD in a Toshiba R25 tablet pc ?

Does anyone know how to replace a HD that is placed in a shock protector "cage" ?

You cannot replace a SATA HDD with a P ATA drive. It wont work since the interfaces are different. As for installing it in an R25, no idea. The protector cage should be removable and attachable to the new hard drive, since all 2.5" hard drives share the same size and are standerdised.

Thanks miner but there is an adapter in there , maybe a sata to ata pins if its possible ? so would the HD work without the adapter ?

Thats what I meant , if anyone has done it and can provide exact instructions . Its not the first time I upgrade a 2.5" HD but looking inside it wasn't clear to me what to do .

Why dont u just buy a sata, seeing as how ur computer came with a sata drive. Why on earth would u want to downgrade to a pata. Plus, I dont think that "adapter" u saw is sata to pata, so there is no way for u to put in a pata drive in there.
