Hi I use the R4000 mostly on AC power. I want to take the battery out. But what can go in place of it? I don't want to get dust in it and I don't want the corner to be downsloping. Any ideas?

How about some duct tape? Why do you want to take it out other than the weight. It is not hurting anything.

I'm not sure about you bud, but i heard that leavin the battery when running on AC for a long period of time is not the best thing for the battery. Because it is always under high temperature, it would decrease teh lifetime of the battery cell. Correct me if im wrong thoguh. If not, please someone answer the original question, what should one do if one removes their battery.

I run mine down once a week. A good discharge/recharge cycle is good for a battery every once in a while.

If you leave your laptop on AC power, reduce the power to 40% then take the battery out, put it in a ziploc or foodsaver bag, suck all the air out of it, and put it in the fridge. ( take it out the night b4 you are planning on using it, and charge it up in the morning.)
