My RAID5 volume has been giving me problems lately. I thought I finally fixed them when I got all my data off and recreated the array. However, I was not so fortunate. Now, the raid card (3ware 9650se 8-ports) recognizes that there are 8 drives connected to it and builds a volume from those drives successfully . However, after a few hours of usages, it always tells me that "physical drive 2" is missing and the array is in degraded mode. I delete the unit, create it again and it has the same problem. I'm sure it's not a problem with the hard drive itself since I tried putting different hard drive in the physical drive 2 spot. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Thanks a lot :)

    Well...
-Have you tried replacing the SATA cable?
-Are you sure the PSU can handle all those drives? (less likely since it's always the same drive that drops)
-It's possible that port is loose on the RAID card, have you checked that it's in order?
-What happens if you create a test array and exclude port 2? Any issue?
