To be totally honest. If they both have best timings possible and lifetime warrantys, doesnt matter. Get the cheaper one ;)

Sure some people are partial to one brand or another but when it comes to 204pin RAM, it can at many times, just be a toss up for which one will perform better, because unlike desktop RAM, you rarely will be overclocking it etc.

Get the long warranty one. The long warranty means it has better quality.

Don't underestimate the power of good RAM. It's not a speed thing so much as, what kind of hell can a bad stick put you through?

Also, for CAS Latency, do I want a higher or lower #?

i.e. is 4 or 5 faster?? I assume 4 is faster but just checking. :)

Yes, 4 is faster since there is less latency it is faster. But as to whether or not you will see a difference in day to day use is questionable from everything I read. Looks like it only shows up in benchmarks...

If it came down to just those two choices, I think I'd choose Corsair. However, Kingston is amazing, IMHO, and I think they would always be my first choice.

I voted for Corsair, but I would go with crucial over anything else, since they use the highest performance micron memory cells.
Great Skill is starting to make a pull into the memory market, but I am not buying into it. I really dont like their company organization and their oddities in memory. It is good that they have differences, but I only use corsair and crucial for their performance and extreme reliability.

Ok thanks a lot! I have decided to go with the Corsair that I put up in a link because I think they will be better for me in the long run and if I have problems with DOA or the like I think I will have better dealings with them.

Also, I have decided that CAS Latency of 5 should be fine seeing as 4 shouldn't really make the difference it should for the extra $$$. >.<

    Thanks again! :)

I would choose GSkill, in my opinion it is as good and less expensive.

Also NBR members, I know this seems silly, but I have a feeling that having 3 GB not utilizing Dual Channel won't perform much better than my current 2 GBs that ARE utilizing Dual Channel.

I mean, 3 GB SHOULD be better compared to 2 but am I really doing that much if I am not Dual Channeling?
Does it make it worth it then to buy another 2 GB of the same stuff even though I am running Vista 32 bit??

Thanks for any help you can give on this conundrum. :)

Dual Channel would hardly give you a 10% increase in performance..!!
You won't even notice the difference in real-world performance..!!
Go for the 2+1GB config, because the more ram you have, more active memory will be available, hence more multi-tasking..!!

Seconded. The gain from dual-channel is pretty small, so if you ever use more than 2 GB, you'll get much more benefit from adding additional memory than from having dual-channel.

Of course, there's no point in upgrading from 2 GB to 3 GB if you never use all 2 GB, but I'm assuming that you already use all your memory occasionally since you're considering upgrading.

Voted G.Skill, but the price difference is pretty low. I'd go with it because as a college student I like to save money where it's unlikely to cost me down the road for being cheap (thus including computer memory). Currently I have Qimonda memory, which I'm pretty sure is marketed as Kingston, and it's been performing well.

I vote Corsair. Not because G.Skill is bad, but I have had so much good luck with Corsair over the years, it's hard to recommend anything else.

Thanks for the help. :) Now I am more sure of my decision and can't wait to see the difference in performance. :D
