Hi, I want to upgrade RAM for my HP DV6500t 2CD T7250 2GHz (2G RAM 667 MHz dual channel) to 4G. I want to ask couple questions regarding with this:
1. Is it better to get 4G RAM kit (2x2Gb) or 2 of 2G separately?
2. If those are the same quality, why Kit is more expensive?
Many thanks

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The kit is a marketing ploy. There is no difference between buying two sticks separately and two sticks in a kit.

It is strange how their marketing works. usually you can get two individual sticks of memory for a couple of dollars less than a kit.
Just buy two separate memory cards, and then you can save money and get the same thing.

What they said...
I was going to upgrade to 3gb, but thought that for an additional $30-40, I could just go to 4gb, use the extra .25gb over 3gb and I plan on moving to 64-bit some day (when Sony gets a little better on their driver support).
Anywho - Fry's had a Crucial 2gb PC-5300 SO-DIMM stick for $42 with a $22 rebate. Great deal for a 1gb upgrade for my 2gb FZ. But, I went ahead and bought 2 to have a matching set. 4gb set for $62, if I get my rebate. So the moral of the story, check both single stick and kit pricing and buy whichever costs the least! -
There's nothing really magical about getting your ram in a kit. Buy whichever is cheaper. The only thing you may want to keep in mind is that I think it's better to get two identical ram sticks. There can be problems with sticks from different companies, though the chance is probably pretty low.

I agree - it is probably not a big deal to mix cuz most memory is made in the same place, but I just feel better having all the same.

Thanks for quick reply. I'll go for separate RAM, I thik it will save my money to get same quality.
RAM Kit or not Kit?
