    So I'm gonna be purchasing:

    Patriot Viper Series Tri-Channel DDR3 PC3-10666 1333MHz 6GB (3x2GB) CL 9-9-9-24 Enhanced Latency DIMM Triple Channel Kit (PVT36G1333ELK)

for $94.99. There are kids that are around 110 that are 8-8-8-14 and kits that are 7-7-7-28 etc.

Will there be a difference for gaming purposes? Is it worth going for lower timings?

No, don't bother with lower timings as in real life, they yield NO performance difference.

It's up to you if you want to spend the extra. You won't really notice a difference outside of synthetic benchmarks. It won't make a difference in games.

The only benefit lower timing kits have in real world situations is that by slacking timings on them, they sometimes have more clocking headroom.

No game will show more FPS just due to increased timings, you can benchmark with any game and it won't matter.

Just use static game benchmarks built into the games, you may notice 1fps change if your lucky but that would only be with really high game settings in the first place where the RAM may be under a heavy load.

I have done the tests on this already in the past, when your trying to get record setting benchmark scores its important but for actual use, and for gaming it is not a issue.

Timings used to have a much more predominant effect back in the P4 days, but now with newer tech its all but eliminated.
