Hello everyone. This is my first post on the forum.

I just got around to buying a DV5T running the P7350 processor a month ago and am considering upgrading the memory from from the original 2gb to a more adequate 4gb. My question is:

What are the differences between DDR2 667 and DDR2 800?
Any pros and cons with choosing one over the other?

Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated.

There is no difference in performance, get the cheapest one w/ good warranty. Btw depending on the chipset, DDR2-800 might not even be supported.

Pavilion _DV5T supports DDR2 800MHz according to the service guide.

DDR2 800MHz has more bandwidth, therefore it should be faster. But the differences won’t be noticeable in most real world applications. However, if you have 2x1GB sticks and have to buy two sticks to upgrade, then might as well buy 800Mhz, because now they cost almost same as 667Mhz.

If you're getting a 4GB kit, get DDR2-800. Your laptop supports it, and the price difference is ng. You won't notice a difference in performance between DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 except in synthetic benchmarks. Just make sure the kit you buy has a lifetime warranty.
