Hey ppl, below in my sig I am about to purchase that specific laptop with those specs. I am curious if anyone knows what company supplies the RAM for the nc8430 (ie: corsair, kingston or another generic brand...?) and also the HDD manufacturer?

If country specific, I live in New Zealand f.y.i.

I am looking to upgrade to more RAM as it actually comes with 1gig stick of DDR2 667mhz.

    Thanks in advance for help.

NB: anyone also know of any cooloing pads to reccomend as I'm moving to Oman, and it's pretty hot and dry there ;)

Mine came with 2GB of Infinieon RAM, probably generic.
But the hard drive was Hitachi, which is a name brand. Only Seagate and Hitachi make 100GB 7200RPM drives AFAIK, and either one comes from a great company.

Ah cheers for that. I was curious as I wasn't sure if I should upgrade from HP initially with purchase at point of sale, or flag that and upgrade/replace with 2x 1gig sticks of kingston ram.

in general it varies by whatever they get the best price on. A friend and I each bought the same system a few weeks apart both from Best Buy - his had Samsung RAM and a WD hard drive, mine had Kingston RAM and a Hitachi drive.
