I have an HP Pavilion zt3340EA notebook PC with these specs.
RAM is upgradeable to 2GB through two sockets. My current RAM is 512 PC2700 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs.
I want to upgrade to 2GB; what are my options? Obviously, I'd want two 1GB sticks, but what kind? Is DDR2 possible? If not, how high can I go with DDR, PC3200? PC4200? And even though I'm using these as examples, I have no idea what they mean, as they're just things I picked up from searching for compatible RAM.
Thanks.

Use the memory adviser, "Scan My System", located on the Crucial site to get the details and buy it on budget from an online retailer. ( http://www.crucial.com/) If dual-channel interests you, there are numerous threads that explain it in entirety.

Thanks.
I actually did scan my system using Crucial before starting the thread, but it couldn't scan the system properly. I then had to choose the closest model to my notebook as my model was not present, but I can't go by that. -

I looked up your notebook and PC2700 is the highest compatible RAM. That being said, I would get 2x1GB sticks at Newegg or ZipZoomfly or where ever reliable.
Something like this. -
Thanks. I really appreciate the help.
Incidentally, where did you find this information? I'd love to keep it as future reference. That is, if it contains any more information relating to my notebook.
Edit: Since my FSB is 400Mhz, doesn't that mean that I can upgrade up to PC3200? And is the difference between 2700 and 3200 significant enough for me to be making such a fuss? -
You can use Pc3200, but the system chipset will automatically downclock the 400mhz memory down to 333Mhz speeds.

Ah, no point then.
Thank you.
