I recently bought a Thinkpad T60 model with RAM module specifications of PC2-5300. It only comes with 512 MB RAM, and I want to upgrade to 1 GB by putting 512 more RAM in the second slot. I found the following product:
Corsair - Value Select 512MB PC5300 DDR2 SoDIMM Notebook Memory.
It seems like it would work, but I'm not technically savvy enough to know if the difference between PC2-5300 and PC5300 is relevant. Can someone tell me if using that product would be ok?
Thank you

Hello, and welcome.
PC2 is for only desktop computers, not for notebook.

Thank you for the speedy response, but I need more help, because now I'm even more confused.
If you look at this link, http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/s...ngId=-1&dualCurrId=1000073&categoryId=2072541, the thinkpad T60 seems to come with PC2. On the other hand, I only found that corsair PC product under the notebook memory section of bestbuy, and if I look further under the section, there are both PC and PC2 items offered. So what am I missing here?
Again thank you for taking the time to help out someone new to all of this.
Just figured I might as well throw this in too, it is the bestbuy page that I am looking at:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=cat01170 -
as long as it is notebook ram and ddr2, it will work.

Oops, I did futhur research on PC2 type ram and regular PC. It IS compatible with notebook but I have no idea what is the difference.
Sorry about that. I am sure someone will help you.

clarification: pc2 is not specific to desktops. the only difference 'spec' wise is the # of pins; desktops have 240, notebooks have 200.
