I just bought a Qosmio X505-Q890. It comes with 6GB of RAM. I want to upgrade it to 8GB. First of all, what do I need to order? And how do I go about installing it?

I am new to this and learning all I can as fast as I can. So please a little thorough in your response.

Look for DDR3 1066mhz RAM. It's pretty simple to replace RAM in a laptop. If you've ever done it in a desktop it's almost the same, the only difference is you have to put the RAM in on a 45 degree angle, and then push down on the RAM until it locks in place. Also, is there a reason why you want to upgrade to 8 GB's of RAM? It's quite a costly upgrade for a minimal increase in performance.

if u want 8GB , buy a 4GB stick.. as ur qosimo will have 4+2 GB stick.. it will run in dual channel but not full but really there's no difference.. otherwise buy a 4GBX2 kit... sell ur old RAM here and get some moeny back.
