hi i ordered my m15x with only 1 gb ram and plan on adding more myself. im looking for some of the best rams for performance, so which ones would be good? mostly i see kingston and corsair names everywhere, but is there really a difference in brands? also what Cas Latency would be best? and i was also wondering if it would work if i put the 4 gb ram into my m15x since its only running 32-bit vista, should i just do a 1 gbx2gb installation or can i pop in both 2 gb ram sticks?

Any brand would be fine, take the ones that's the cheapest. Otherwise you're only paying for the brand name, nothing else. Ram doesn't effect performance like GPU's or CPU's.

Buy 2x2GB for true dual channel use, as 2x2GB is cheap anyways, though it'll only show about 3GB in a 32bit environment, but that's not really a problem.

All RAMs perform good. You'll be looking for memory with a lifetime warranty, 'cause you never know when a memory cell goes kaput!

Cas Latency doesn't matter, and will not affect the overall performance of the system in anyway whatsoever.

If you plan on upgrading to 64-bit, go with 4GB, otherwise Vista 32 -> you'll see 2.5 - 3.75GB depending upon the H/W.

    you want SO-DIMM DDR2 667mhz PC-5300 (sometimes called 675mhz PC-5400, same thing) RAM. a 2x2Gb kit would be best.

EDIT: aim for major brands such as Crucial, Corsair, OCZ, Mushkin, G-skill, Patriot, or Kingston.
