I just got my 2gb memory in the mail...but i noticed that it was loose inside the packaging...is that gonna do anything to the memory itself?

It came in one of those air bubble packages (kinda like a well padded envelope) so im sure there wasn't anything heavy on top of it but will just the stick of memory moving around inside the plastic case cause any issues?

    thanks

unless it cracked, (Highly Unlikely) i doubt there is any damage to the RAM.

You'd have to do a memory test to see if the RAM itself is damaged. I suggest either a Prime95 with heavy memory testing or memtestx86.

thanks guys. theres no visible cracks, so i think im ok w/ that, but i'll have to run memtest one i get my laptop.

if it doesnt work, i can just send it to the original manufacturer since it has a lifetime warranty right?

Yeah I would contact whomever you purchased the memory from. They'll send you in the right direction. To be honest, I really doubt anything bad happened.

Memory is very resilient to being tossed around...i don't care what people say.

Before you install it look at the pins and make sure they aren't worn or damaged. One stick of ram that I had stopped working because the pins became damaged. However I agree with everyone else that it is probably fine. Just run a memory test to be sure.
