I'm picking up a new laptop shortly with 512MB RAM already installed. I'd like to upgrade to 1GB, but I'm having a hard time tracking down what brand of RAM HP uses in their notebooks. (slow service response)

Is it safe to buy a Pavillion-friendly brand of RAM such as Kingston or Crucial and assume there'll be no conflicts? Or is that naiive?

Also, if there's any dv8120ca owners out there, is it easy to install RAM upgrades myself? (ie snap-in)

as long as you get the right specs, you're ok with other brands... in fact, you're better off, $-wise

crucial.com has a decision tree that will guide you to the correct specs. newegg.com has good prices
