I was going to ask this on dv1000forums but they seem to be down or have disappeared.

I ordered a dv1000 with 256MB and bought a 512 stick. Opened up the back, my 512 stick looks a little thinner than the 256MB module already in there but there was a slot sort of overlapping the 256 area and the 512MB stick fit perfectly. Problem is Belarc says I have 512MB installed. Where did the other 256 go?

    Thanks.

Device Manager says 480MB of memory, Belarc is now saying "480 Megabytes Installed Memory, Slot 'J5G3' is Empty
    Slot 'J5G2' has 512 MB"

I know it came with 256MB installed and I added 512MB. Both modules are in there. System Information lists Total Physical Memory as 512MB. Why would it seem to be ignoring the pre-installed 256MB module?

Try switching the cards, it might want to recognize them in a different order of size.

Actually when I opened it back up, it turns out the 256 stick was a little loose. Now I'm showing the full amount.

    Thanks.
