I am purchasing a new HP Dm1 with AMD fusion and wanted to be able to do a little gaming on it, mostly shooters like Bad Company and Half Life 2 and other games on that level. I know that it isn't really meant to be a gaming pc but if I get 8 gigs of RAM do you think that I would be able to get some fair frame rates? I don't need anything great(I have a home built gaming machine for that) but I want a good mobile gaming solution. I looked at the M11x but cant get myself to get another dell(bad experience). Also, I want to avoid it but...Do you think that an ssd would make a worth wile difference? THANKS

I would find out the exact model number to see your RAM or visit Crucial's website. 8 GB RAM (if your model supports it) goes for around 90 USD shipped. SSD would be dependent on what you primarily use your notebook for.

Neither 8GB of RAM nor an SSD are going to help it play games. Games are for the most part (and especially older ones) very much dependent on the CPU and GPU.

The dm1 is pretty much a powerful netbook. Not designed for gaming at all.

Old games should be good to go though. If my Intel 4500MHD can do HL2, I'm pretty sure the dm1 should destroy it.
