Ok, just bought a v4000t a few minutes with only 256MB RAM so I need to upgrade...I know from previous helpful threads here on the HP dv4000 that the Kingston 1GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM Notebook Memory ($94+ at NewEgg) is good...but will this work on the v4000t? I'm assuming so, but my knowledge of such things is what you all tell me, so...

And is there another 1 GB choice that is just as good & reliable and maybe a bit cheaper? I saw someone mention something in another thread that was $70, but didn't catch a name.

Thanks for all your help...I almost bought the dv4000 but saw on this site it was the same as v4000t minus quickplay, and the v4000t had a nice little sale going -- so I saved $200 or so...I'm psyched to get, just gotta get some more RAM quick.

They are virtually the same notebook. Memory that will work in one will work in the other. Congrats on the machine. It is a nice budget gaming notebook.

Thanks. You have any advice on which specific RAM to buy? Is Kingston really that much better than Corsair, G-Skill, mushkin, etc., or is it all the same?

Kingston, Crucial or Corsair are probably the top three. Using one of the off brands slightly increases the chance it won't work because it is not tested as much before being sent off.
