I have a Dell (Alienware M15x) laptop with i7 processor which can support either DDR3-1066/1333. What would be better in terms of performance
    DDR3-1333 with Timings 9-9-9-24 or
    DDR3-1066 with Timings 7-7-7-20

also, what brand would you recommend?

I would recommend this page from Tom's Hardware as regards the timings vs speed question. Basically, the answer is get the 1333mhz RAM.

Don't know much about brands for DDR3 RAM--the big, reputable names are OCZ, Corsair, Patriot, Kingston, and maybe G-Skill or Super-Talent.

    Good luck!
